CBD is an acronym for cannabidiol, and it is a natural substance extracted from hemp for dogs and cats. There is a growing body of evidence to show that CBD help with pet’s anxiety, anti-inflammatory conditions such as pet pain management, seizures, cancer, arthritis & joint pain as well as digestive issues. See CBD Oil for Dogs & Cats for more info.

CBD can be beneficial for dogs, offering relief from pain, anxiety, and other conditions. However, it’s essential to use it responsibly, choose high-quality products, and consult with your veterinarian to ensure it's safe and appropriate for your dog's specific needs. Despite vets not prescribing, Canadian vets are caring and may volunteer their opinion based on experience.

Generally, CBD products are very safe for dogs and cats as long as they are derived from the hemp plant.  Please avoid ones derived from marijuana in case they have a high amount of THC. Like any other supplement, stop use in the unlikely event that your cat or dog throws up or reacts negatively to the product.

In Canada, the Cannabis Act made it legal to process CBD from hemp. However, the Act does not allow for products to be labelled as CBD and does not include Canadian veterinary health as practitioners and as such, your vet cannot prescribe CBD oil for your cat or dog.

CBD products for pets may be labelled as hemp terpenes despite having more than just terpenes. Paw Plus is an approved Health Canada cannabis oil for dogs and cats.
